Fieros at Carlisle 2008
It's MAFOA's famous "Show within a show", May 17th 2008. All the fun and excitement that comes with a Carlisle event and the perfect place to see other Fieros and meet other Fiero owners.
It's one of the largest annual Fiero events in the world, and it's held at the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, PA.
Come one, come all, whether you have a show car and are out to win this year's best of show or you have a work in progress and simply want to meet other Fiero owners like you.
Everyone is welcome. There will be Fiero specific vendors on hand as well so if you are looking for that hard to find Fiero only part, this is the place to be. To read Tom Derr's complete write-up, see this excerpt from the upcoming issue of the Fiero Pride newsletter.

- I'm not sure what class my car belongs in; how do I decide?
Factory Stock - This class will be judged by selected judges. Any Fiero is welcome to enter. Points will be deducted for aftermarket items, except normal wear-andtear
items, like tires, battery. However, bonus points will be awarded for exact replacements.
Stock Classes - These classes are for cars that are pretty much as they came from the dealer, but not as particular as the FS class. Small customizations are permitted,
such as dash panels. A stock-appearing engine will be considered stock.
Custom Classes - The Custom Classes are for Fieros, Fastbacks (CF) and Notchbacks (CN), that have been "personalized" with customizations, like scoops, wheels,
custom paint, minor mechanical upgrades.
Modified Class - This class is for those Fastbacks (MF) and Notchbacks (MN) with engine conversions, and/or turbo or supercharger, and/or fully modified bodies
(but still looks like a Fiero), and/or full suspension conversions. A stock-appearing engine will be considered stock.
Rebodied/Kit Car Class - For body conversions that have a totally different appearance from a Fiero, such as a Ferrari replica. An IMSA Fiero may be entered in
the Modified Class.
High Mileage Stock (HMS) - This is a class for Fieros that are used regularly, and are not the cleanest cars around, and are still essentially stock. Small customizations
are permitted, such as dash panels, seat covers, aftermarket stereos. To enter this class, your Fiero must have at least 125,000 miles on the odometer.
Cars in this class may have both front and rear bonnets open or closed during judging. A car with over 125,000 miles has a choice to enter one of the above
classes if the owner would like to show off their engine.
High Mileage Custom (HMC) - This class is for those with a High Mileage regularly used Fiero, but with more customization, such as custom wheels, and/or nonstock
paint, and/or custom interior. To enter this class, your Fiero must also have at least 125,000 miles on the odometer. Cars in this class may have both front and rear bonnets open or closed during judging. A car with over 125,000 miles has a choice to enter one of the above classes if the owner would like to show off
their engine.
Work In Progress (WIP) - This class is for those cars that are not yet completed and have evidence of work in progress. (i.e. Cars that merely haven’t had their
leather seats or turbos installed do not qualify!). Cars accepted in this class will show evidence such as bare fiber glassing, primer body parts, incomplete
interiors etc.
Display Class - Don’t want to enter your car in the competition? Join us, and park your car in the Display-only Area. For only $23, you will be able to drive into the
Fairgrounds and park with us, and get a dash plaque!
If you still have questions, contact us at carlisle@fieropride.com, and describe your car, major modifications and such, and we'll try to
help you. Or, we can make the call at the show, when we can view your
car.
- What is the cost of entering the show?
- Carlisle Events had a slight increase this year, as did MAFOA fees, but the first 75 entrants do get a free t-shirt! Entry fees are broken down below between member and non-member registration showing total cost as follows:
- Members Pre-register / Day of Show
- Non-Members Pre-register / Day of Show
- MAFOA’s pre-registration / show day fee is assessed only for the first car. There are no additional MAFOA fee for two or more cars. Below are Carlisle Events fees.
- 2nd Car: $15 / $25

- Weekend Pass: $15 for weekend pass good for all three days
- On Field Parking: $5 per vehicle
- I paid MAFOA via PayPal. How do I prove payment at the gate?
- Shortly before the show, you should receive a postcard from Carlisle
Productions. At the gate, Carlisle Productions has
a Pre-registered Table. Go there, give them your postcard and they will give
you the Carlisle Goodie Bag along with your showfield pass and sticker.
The majority of your money covers the Carlisle Productions entry fee, a portion of
it covers the MAFOA fee (goes toward the army of trophies and prizes we
hand out in MAFOA-land), and $1 goes for the pay pal transaction fee.
- What do you have scheduled for the weekend?
- All Day - Enjoy the other happenings around the fairgrounds, shop the flea market vendors, look at Fieros, talk to Fiero owners, have a good time! There are Carlisle activities all weekend long. MAFOA activities are as follows:
- Fridays Schedule
- Saturdays Schedule
- 7:00AM - Gates Open
- 9:00AM - 11:00AM - Fiero Registration at the Fiero Tent
- 11:00AM - 1:00PM - Judging by popular vote, except Factory Stock
- 1:00PM - 2:00PM - Technical Seminar by Wayne's World of fieros - Building R
- 2:30PM - 3:30PM - Prizes and awards presentation at the Fiero tent.
- Are these two different shows at the same time and place?
- The Carlisle event is indeed an Import-Kit/Replicar show. It features
a large showground for all sorts of makes and models, as well as
hundreds of vendors (parts, supplies, collectibles, indoor feature
displays, car corral, seminars, etc.) catering to the show crowd. The
MAFOA show is a show within the Carlisle show. When you come to the
MAFOA tent for the MAFOA registration, you will receive our Goodie Bag
and class card and be shown where to park.
- I want to be in the Carlisle Import Kit / Replicar show; how
do I register?
- If you want to participate in the Carlisle Import Kit / Replicar Nationals you can register with them directly, or through MAFOA. The advantage
of registering through MAFOA is that it enables you to park/show with the Fieros, and still participate
in all of our festivities. More information on the Import Kit / Replicar Nationals can be found on the Cars at Carlisle site. Whether you register through us or
directly with Carlisle Events, you will have a entry pass and showfield parking for
all 3 days. Many MAFOA folks arrive on Friday and a fair share stay through
Sunday too.
- Is there a class for rebody owner built and rebody pro
built?
- No, because it is typically a small class of 3 to 6 cars.
- Does the Import Kit / Replicar Nationals have a Fiero kit car / rebody class?
-
- The word from Carlisle Events is no, they do not have a specific class for Fiero based kits.
- They don't have a competition or give trophies either. The rest of the
Carlisle show is show purposed only. Some of the other clubs do, at
times, have a show within a show like we do.
